A gripping narrative of a 'Gunner' going out at night to avenge his squad, with a humorous twist at the end.
The story's idea was to create tension at first by keeping the man's identity and motivations a secret.
The aesthetics of the pictures are drawn from mafia/crime movies. The idea of the images is to create suspense and intrigue.
The pictures were taken in the evening to create a dark tone to match the aesthetics of theme I had picked. I also shared reference sketches and verbal instructions with my model of how I want him to enact in the photos.
Inspiration
I drew inspiration from preferred movie genres are suspense, thrillers, and crimes. I tried to create a story of my own with images, based on a topic for which I took inspiration from some of my favourite movies and scenes.
Hence, the color palette of the images is dark with a hint of red and has film like grainy effect to it. The surroundings are blurred to help put emphasis on the main character.
Plot line
The man was there to kill, as the narrative and conclusion make clear. A humorous and surprising element is added near the conclusion. Due to the man's Arsenal jacket, the title "The Gunner" that is displayed at the conclusion is a parody.
